Atelier Powder is an architectural practice operating between Paris and New York. The studio approaches design as a dialogue between place, people, and the natural world, emphasizing the intersection of beauty, functionality, and sustainability. Drawing inspiration from both contemporary and historical contexts, Atelier Powder explores the dynamic relationship between space, light, and materiality.
In addition to its design work, the studio engages in ongoing research exploring the relationship between architecture and cinema, particularly horror films. This research examines how movies shape our perception of space and the built environment, as well as the profession of architecture itself. A key focus is on understanding how young architects navigate success in both the U.S. and France, offering insight into the evolving challenges and opportunities in the field.
At the core of the practice is a commitment to social issues, with a focus on the interconnections between humans, animals, and the environment. Atelier Powder seeks to create spaces that not only foster human well-being but also consider the broader ecological and social context, advocating for a more holistic approach to architecture that bridges the gaps between the built and natural worlds. Atelier Powder strives to create meaningful spaces that resonate with their environments while promoting sustainability, inclusivity, and collective well-being.
